Sixteen (16) persons are in the grips of the Ghana Police Service for invading the premises of UTV to unleash an attack at workers and guests at the station’s studios whilst a live programme was in session.
The suspects, who are believed to be sympathisers of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) were said to be discontented with what was being discussed at the United Showbiz entertainment programme which triggered their dastardly act.
The action followed a complaint by the Ministry of Information and the Despite Media Group, owners of UTV, which led to the arrest of the 16 persons.
A statement from the Ghana Police Service Saturday, October 7, 2023, indicate the suspects are being kept in custody pending investigations into the matter.
