Majority Leader, Mahama Ayariga has lauded President John Mahama’s government after almost ten months in office.

Speaking on the floor of the House on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 after the House reconvened, Ayariga highlighted some achievements of the current government, noting the President Mahama’s government has been “excellent” by far.

He cited the stabilisation of the Ghanaian cedi, the single digit inflation recorded,  the stable power supply, the upgrade of Ghana’s economy by Fitch, and the positive economic gains recorded by the NDC government as the achievement recorded so far by the current administration.

“Mr. Speaker, I am proud to say that so far, so excellent. The energy sector is doing very well and electricity has remained on empowering growth. So far, so excellent. The economy is rebounding and Ghana once again, is gaining economic respectability globally. So far, so excellent.

“The Ghana cedi is gaining strength and stabilizing. So far, so excellent. Inflation has come down to single digit and prices are coming down and life is becoming affordable to the ordinary Ghanaian. So far, so excellent,” he stated.

He stressed that government is also paying its debts and not accommodating needless debts.

Mahama Ayariga also described the numbers of Minority Members of Parliament as “minuscule” following the New Patriotic Party’s loss in Akwatia by-election and their unwillingness to contest in the Tamale Central by-election.

Addressing Members of Parliament on the floor of the House on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, he said the Minority MPs are no more a micro Minority but a “Minuscule Minority”.

He noted that the NDC Majority on the other side have become a “gargantuan Majority” with their numbers increasing from 183 to 185.

“With these two elections and the one that took place in Ablekuma, the House is fully constituted. The Independent Members of this House remain 4. The NPP which previously had a micro minority of 88 members has had its number shrink further to 87.

“Mr. Speaker, I believe they are no longer a micro minority but a minuscule Minority. Micro could actually be a large number because Micro is a unit of measurement.

“In English when you want to describe something as very small, you say minuscule.  The NDC super majority will ballon to 185 and when we add the four independent members who have agreed to do business with us, the NDC would become a gargantuan majority,” he stated.
