President John Dramani Mahama has promised to solve Ghana’s economic crisis.

He says just as he promised to solve the power rationing (dumsor) challenge some ten years ago and did, he will solve the economic hurdle currently confronting the nation.

The President avers he is propelled by the massive support he received from the citizenry at the December 2024 polls to solve the very challenge he was voted to tackle.

Presenting the State of the Nation Address (SoNA) in Parliament Thursday, February 27, 2025, President Mahama assured the House of his quest to turn the economy around and reset it on a trajectory of growth.

Touting himself as a man of action with a track record of devising solutions, he told the House that he handed over power in 2017 without the challenge of dumsor and it is same he will solve the economic mess the nation is currently dealing with.

“Yesterday February 26, 2025, marks exactly 10 years since I stood in this chamber, at this very spot, to declare my determination to fix dumsor, a legacy problem of power shortages and Mr. Speaker, I fixed it.

“I promised to fix it and I did and I wish to place firmly on record, that from January 2016 until I handed over the administration of this country on January 2017, there was no power rationing or load management in Ghana,” he stated.

“Mr. Speaker, today inspired by the Almighty God and propelled by the massive mandate given to me by the good people of Ghana, I am moved to make a similar purposeful and bold declaration that I, John Dramani Mahama, I’ll fix the economic crisis confronting the country and reset it on a path of growth and prosperity,” he assured.
