President John Dramani Mahama has promised Ghanaians that he will resolve the massive challenges confronting the nation as he was voted to do.
He says although there is much to lament about regarding the state of the economy, it is not his style to lament over problems but rather device means to solve them.
According to the President, Ghanaians did not vote for him to apportion blames but rather come up with solutions to alleviate the people out of the challenges for which he was voted to solve.
During his maiden presentation of the State of the Nation in Parliament Thursday, February 27, 2025, John Mahama noted that the overwhelming endorsement he got from Ghanaians is an indication of the enormity of the challenges which he was voted to ameliorate.
“Mr. Speaker as I stated earlier Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution requires that I give an account of the state to Parliament. I’m sad to report that the state of our nation is not good. Our economy is in crisis and our people suffering unprecedented hardship.
“Mr. Speaker, it is not my style to lament and shift blames when confronted with challenges. My approach is to accept challenges and work hard to solve them. Indeed this is precisely what the people of Ghana elected me to do.
“I have therefore not come here to lament on the state of our country, though there is much to lament about. I understand why I was elected with such high voter confidence and that is to solve Ghana’s problems,” he stated.
Meanwhile, he has indicated that the two-day upcoming National Economic Dialogue in March and the presentation of the budget statement will give the government the opportunity to present the truest state of the economy to the people to justify why he says it is in crisis.
“Mr. Speaker, we will host a National Economic Dialogue on March 3rd and 4th. On March 11, the Minister of Finance on my behalf will present the budget estimates for the financial year 2025 to this august House. These two events will allow us to present the real state of Ghana’s economic crisis to the people,” he added.
