The Bafana Bafana of South Africa pulled the biggest upset at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in La Côte d’Ivoire, beating favourites Morocco 2-0 in the Round of 16 on Tuesday, January 30.

Two goals in the second half of the game  at Stade San de Pédro gave the 1996 champions the ticket to the quarter finals.

Against the run of play, Evidence Makgopa’s sublime finish gave the South Africans the needed hope to pull the upset.

A penalty given by the video assistant referee (VAR) for a handball in the South Africans’ penalty area was missed by Paris-Saint Germain defender Achraf Hakimi.

A red-card offence by Sofyan Amrabat resulted in a free kick, which was nicely converted by Teboho Mokoena.

His kick beat Bono in post for the Atlas Lions.

It ended 2-0 for the Boys.

They will face Cape Verde in the quarter finals.
