An Accra Circuit Court has sentenced Mohammed Ibrahim, a Sowutuom branch Organiser of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to 4 years imprisonment.
Charges levelled against Mr. Ibrahim included publication of false news with intent to cause fear and alarm, threat of harm, and offensive conduct to breach the peace.
He, however, pleaded not guilty.
On September 10, 2024, Mohammed Ibrahim, who doubles as the Commander of a revolutionary group known as ‘Ka na wu’,
He also threatened to shoot Interior Minister Henry Quartey in the event of war in the country after the elections.
In court on Friday, November 29, 2024, presiding judge Evelyn Asamoah, sentenced him to three years imprisonment for publication of false news with intent to cause harm, four years on the charge of threat of harm, and three years for offensive conduct.
The sentences will, however, run concurrently.
