STRANEK-Africa congratulates the Speaker of the 8th Parliament of the Republic of Ghana on his election as the President of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association International.

Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, the Parliamentary icon who has contributed to deepening governance and democracy from being a Member of Parliament for Nadowli West Constituency, all the way to being the Number 3 of the Republic of Ghana is lifting high the flag of the Republic of Ghana with his unanimously elected position as President of CPA.

Indeed, this is an endorsement of the confidence imposed on him by over 180 member Parliaments of the Commonwealth of Nations after having served well as Vice-President of the CPA.

One of the most-experienced Member of Parliament of Ghana who will serve as the Chair of the Elections Committee of the Association is tried and tested. We are therefore confident about his unparalleled leadership which will perfect the hopes and aspirations of both the Anglophone and Francophone countries which form the 180 branches of CPA.

Once again, we say kudos on the additional leadership step and we believe the demonstration of excellence by Rt. Hon. Speaker will help build and overcome the global economic challenges and promote parliamentary democracy.
