Flag bearer for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has charged the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to begin writing its handing over notes if it has not started doing so.
According to him, the state the Akufo-Addo administration has plunged the nation into is unprecedented, indicating that “Ghana cannot endure a single day beyond January 7” with the NPP in power.
John Mahama, describing the Akufo-Addo leadership as the “biggest political scam that has been presented to the nation since 1957”, says the administration has “decimated our democracy beyond recognition.”
Speaking at the launch of the NDC Manifesto Saturday, August 24, 2024, he also criticised the party for presenting Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as an “economic wizkid” who is the “economic messiah Ghana never got.”
He explained that the NPP packaged President Akufo-Addo to Ghanaians as the “President Ghana never got” only to come and plunge the nation into despair.
Prior to the launch today, John Mahama, had earlier indicated that the Manifesto launch marks the first step to liberating the country from challenges that have held the nation back for too long.
It also marks “the first step towards resetting our dear nation, Ghana”, he said in a brief promotional video released a day to the launch, Friday, August 23, 2024.
The theme for the manifesto launch is Change to Reset Ghana.
In his message, Mahama said, “tomorrow we take the first step towards resetting our dear nation Ghana. We face challenges that have held us back for too long, but now it’s time to build the Ghana we all want together. Join me from Winneba in the Central region as I unveil a vision for our future that will bring justice, jobs, and prosperity to every corner of our beloved nation, Ghana. Tomorrow, we begin the journey together.”
The event has drawn party bigwigs and the rank and file to fill the Jophus Anamuah-Mensah Auditorium which is hosting the launch.
He is spearheading the event with his running mate, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang.
