Martin Luther Kpebu, a renowned legal practitioner, has alleged that former Attorney-General, Godfred Yeboah Dame, selectively interpreted the law to enable Cecilia Dapaah evade trial.

He has disclosed that his outfit has headed back to court on the matter regarding Madam Dapaah and the huge sums of money found at her residence.

Cecilia Abena Dapaah, a former Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, under the erstwhile Akufo-Addo administration, became a subject of investigation when huge sums of monies were discovered in her house.

The matter became public after she reported her house help of stealing a whooping GHC1 million from her home, together with other foreign currencies and valuable items worth hundreds of thousands of cedis belonging to her and her husband.

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) was tasked to investigate the woman for money laundering, when it became obvious that the wealth she possessed could be ill-gotten, when juxtaposed with her income.

Following the investigations, the documents were forwarded to the Office of the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice who is responsible for initiating trial but said he could not find anything implicating about her.

Speaking on the KeyPoints on TV3 Saturday, March 15, 2025, the renowned lawyer disclosed that they have returned to court for proper interpretation of the law, asserting that the former Attorney-General, Godfred Yeboah Dame, interpreted the provision just to allow Madam Dapaah escape trial.

“This week we were in court, this Cecilia Dapaah matter, dragging EOCO and the Attorney-General, trying to make sure that the law is interpreted well. Godfred Dame interpreted the law in such a way to allow Cecilia Dapaah to escape but we said no, that’s not it.

“Once that money was found and the money is money that so far Cecilia Dapaah cannot even account for, she said she had created a businesses, all the two businesses, when OSP did investigation, those businesses didn’t belong to her so where did that money come from? Money laundering, that’s our case,” Kpebu stated.
