The Chief of Staff (CoS), Julius Debrah, is requesting from all heads of government institutions, details of information on all staff added to their payrolls since Saturday, December 07, 2024.

The directive, according to the Chief of Staff, is to ensure transparency on the government payroll.

In a statement dated Tuesday, January 15, 2025, Mr. Debrah noted that the directive is to “ensure the accuracy and integrity of government payroll records.”

“This information is critical to maintaining transparency and accountability in our payroll management processes,” portions of the statement added.

It requested that the information being provided should include:

Full Name
Designation/Job Title
Employee Identification Number (if applicable)
Date of Appointment
Date Added to Payroll

Also, leadership of the said institutions have up to Friday, January 31, 2025, to submit the requested data to the Office of the Chief of Staff.

“Your cooperation in this important matter is highly appreciated,” Mr Debrah noted, underscoring the significance of the exercise in curbing payroll-related inefficiencies.

The initiative is part of government’s efforts to purge the national payroll of ghost names for public sector financial management optimisation.
