The spokesperson for the Member of Parliament for Suhum, Samuel Baah Gosh, has dismissed claims that Kwadwo Asante has withdrawn from contesting as an independent candidate in the 2024 elections.
In an interview with Beatrice Adu, Mr. Baah Gosh said that the circulating reports are false.
“About an hour and a half ago, my MP called me and asked that I issue a statement to refute this misinformation. He has never said he is not contesting the 2024 parliamentary seat in Suhum,” Mr. Baah Gosh stated.
According to the spokesperson, Asante remains committed to his promise of development for the people of Suhum and has no intention of stepping down from the race.

Mr. Baah Gosh also acknowledged that the NPP may have reached out to Asante, but he firmly believes the MP has not, and will not, rescind his decision to run as an independent candidate in the upcoming elections.
Mr Kwadwo Asante is one of four Members of Parliament whose seats were declared vacant by the Speaker, Alban Bagbin. Their seats were declared vacant in accordance with Article 97, following their decision to contest the December 7 as Independent Candidates.
The Supreme Court has since directed Parliament to suspend the implementation of the Speaker’s declaration.
