The man suspected of killing the former MP for Abuakwa North, Joseph Boakye (J.B.) Danquah Adu, has wept in court, saying he is tired of attending trial.

Daniel Asiedu, also known as Sexy Dondon, wept in court on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, saying the “court system in Ghana is not fair” after being scheduled for retrial after nine years of legal scuffle.

The accused who maintained he was innocent, had to be calmed by the court for proceedings to resume.

At the Criminal Court 5 division of the High Court, the trial Judge, Justice Kizita Naa Koowa Quarshie, drew the attention of defence counsel, Sophia Armstrong, who held brief that her senior had indicated that they were going to file a bail application.

But the court said it had not received the bail application which the Defence Council clarified that it was yet to file the application on behalf of the suspect.

Yvonne Yaache-Adomako, who stood in for Sefakor Batse, the Principal State Attorney, said they intended to commence trial subject to the availability of jurors to be empanelled.

The court, has, meanwhile, adjourned the matter to February 25, 2025.

The High Court on December 4, 2024, ordered a retrial of Asiedu, a trader, after a seven-member jury returned a 4-3 verdict on him on the charges of robbery and murder.

The late MP was gruesomely murdered at his residence at Shiashie, near East Legon in Accra on February 9, 2016.
