The Tafo Municipal Assembly in Ashanti Region, has intensified its commitment to enforcing sanitation by-laws against defaulters to serve as a deterrent to others.

Abubakar Sidiq, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), made this known during the Assembly’s sanitation day exercise at Pankrono Electoral Area as the part of the government’s Sanitation Day Exercise on every first Saturday of the month towards clean environment.

He stated that the Assembly will intensify the enforcement of sanitation by-laws to enhance cleanliness in the municipality.

He hinted that punitive actions against defaulters, including landlords who fail to sanitize their frontages yet do not participate in the exercise, will be meted out, including spot fines or prosecution.

He stressed that sanitation hygiene is a collective effort and every responsible citizen must complement the government’s commitment to reducing communicable and non-communicable diseases.

He also emphasized that the Assembly is urging residents to take an active role in maintaining a clean and healthy environment.

The Tafo MCE expressed concern over the attitude of some residents who sit on the fence while others work to keep the environment clean. He said the Assembly’s commitment to enforcing sanitation by-laws is aimed at promoting a clean and healthy environment for all residents.
