The Member of Parliament for the Talensi Constituency, Daniel Dung Mahama, on May 28, 2025 procured 3 packets of roofing sheets valued at GHS 4, 200.00 for the Baapelug Primary School and Gbanbee CHPS Compound in the Baare and Tongo communities respectively.
Another GHS 1,200.00 cash was given to the Management of the Baapelug school to buy the wood for the roofing. This brings the total cost to GHS 5, 400.00.
The provisions of the roofing sheets followed a rainstorm disaster that rift off the roofs of these two facilities rendering them unfit for purpose.
The MP who toured these affected school facilities together with the DCE, John Millim Nabwomya and the District Director of Education, Madam Christiana Azure Ayinzoya to assess the extent of damage caused by the disaster, promised during the tour, to work expeditiously to fix the situation for the pupils to have uninterrupted teaching and learning and smooth health care delivery respectively.
Today’s presentation which was done by the Talensi District Chief Executive, John Millim Nabwomya, the Assembly man of the Baare Electoral Area, Thomas Apana Atubila and Mr. Bernard Veeyetor, a branch youth organizer on behalf of the MP was in fulfillment of the MP’s promise to fix these situations as quickly as possible.
Presenting the roofing sheets, the DCE advised the schools’ managers and PTAs to collaborate to undertake minor repairs to prevent such defects from degenerating into bigger challenges. He also admonished them to imbibe and inculcate in staffs and young learners the culture of tree planting around the schools’ buildings to serve as windbreaks to prevent windstorm from causing havoc to our schools’ properties.
The items were received by the headmaster of the school, Mr. Augustine Kongazoore. Efforts are underway to support the remaining school blocks affected by the disaster to re-roof their buildings.
The District Chief Executive was later joined by the District Coordinating Director, Mr. Clifford Atanga to visit the Namalteng Vocational Institute at Gbeogo on the invitation of the management of the school to experience at first hand the works of the school and the infrastructural challenges they face.
The leadership of the schools commended the Member of Parliament for the Talensi Constituency, Daniel Dung Mahama for his responsive and exemplary leadership to the people of the Talensi Constituency.
The gesture will undoubtedly lessen the burden and pain of the staffs, parents, pupils and beneficiaries of the affected facilities.
