Ghanaian gospel group, Team Eternity Ghana is facing accusations by veteran music producer Kwame Mickey who has alleged that the hit song “Defe Defe” samples a track by one of his artists.
In a Facebook post, Kwame Mickey, the executive producer for Hallelujah Voices’ ‘Defe Defe’, claims that Team Eternity Ghana has infringed on his copyright by using a line in his Hallelujah Voices’ ‘Defe Defe’, for their new hit song.
Despite having distinct melodies, he claims that both songs have the same lines, composition, and arrangement.
Mickey expressed his worries on social media and urged Team Eternity to take action.
“Who is that Defe Defe singer if I start right now…what is the difference between the 2 songs ??? Somebody tell her to report and do the needful that’s all,” he wrote on Facebook, June 17.
‘Defe Defe’ song performed by Hallelujah Voices, was written by Osuani Afrifa and executively produced by Kwame Mickey for Kaakyire Music Productions. It was released in 2004.
3News has reached out to Team Eternity Ghana and is yet to receive a response to the accusation.
Team Eternity has garnered a lot of attention since the release of their third live album, “Testimony.” The song “Defe Defe” has reached number one spot on Apple Music Ghana’s Top 100 and is topping other charts.
