A total of twenty-five suspected criminals and illicit drug dealers are in police custody following a major swoop by the Techiman District Police Command on known criminal hideouts within the Techiman municipality.

The dawn operation, carried out on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 was led by the Techiman District Police Commander, Superintendent Charles Atuah.

It forms part of intensified efforts by the police to dismantle criminal networks and clamp down on drug-related activities in the municipality.

The first phase of the operation targeted ghettos at Abamu, where thirteen suspects were picked up. They include Mubarack Alhassan, 26; Prosper Amoako, 28; Manarf Inusah, 19; Amos Owusu, 23; Suleman Mudasel, 18; Comfort Frimaa, 20; Samuel Nimoh, 22; and Ridwan Mohammed, 21, among others.

From Abamu, the police team moved to Kenten, where six additional suspects were arrested. Those picked up include Amado Charles and Kofi Alex, both aged 20; Zongo Umar, 35; Sharif Yahaya, 18; Nurideen Abu, 25; and Solomon Sheganyi, 18.

The swoop was later extended to Tako, leading to the arrest of another six suspects.

During searches conducted at the various hideouts, police retrieved nineteen wrappers of a whitish substance suspected to be cocaine, as well as dried leaves concealed in a polythene bag believed to be Indian hemp. All exhibits have been retained for further investigations.

The suspects are currently in police custody, assisting with investigations, as the police reiterate their commitment to sustaining operations aimed at making Techiman and its environs safer.
