A fire outbreak involving a 10-storey building at Flour Mills Ghana Ltd, formerly GHAPOHA yard in Tema, reported in the early hours of Wednesday, May 21, 2025, has been brought under control.
According to a statement issued by the Public Relations Unit of the Service, the the first fire appliance arrived around 8:51 am, which was just six minutes after the commencement of the inferno.
The statement further indicate the fire began on the 3rd floor, and was confined to the 5th floor following the swift and coordinated response by the firefighters from Tema Region.
“Currently, four (4) fire engines and a Turn Table Ladder (TL) from the Ghana Ports and Harbour Authority (GPHA), Tema Metro, Newtown, and Industrial Fire Stations are on the scene.
“Firefighters are sweeping from floor to floor to extinguish hidden flames and prevent further spread and to fully extinguish the blaze. No injuries have been recorded as of now,” portions of the statement contained.
The Acting Chief Fire Officer, Daniella Mawusi Ntow Sapong, Tema and Greater Accra Regional Commanders were reportedly at the fire scene to assess the situation and provide leadership.
