The Director of Tema Port, Zumah Tebon on Saturday 16th May 2026, led staff, Management and key stakeholders of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority in a health walk aimed at promoting healthy living, staff wellbeing and workplace awareness within the port community.

The exercise, which marked the maiden edition of the DP’s Health Walk, brought together workers from various departments, stakeholders within the maritime industry, security agencies and other partners operating within the port enclave.

The walk took participants through selected routes within the Tema Port area amid an atmosphere of unity, fitness and enthusiasm.

Addressing participants after the walk, Zumah Tebon emphasized the importance of good health and physical fitness in improving productivity and efficiency at the workplace.

According to the Director, the initiative forms part of efforts by Management to encourage healthy lifestyles among staff while strengthening collaboration and social interaction between Management, employees and stakeholders.

The Director further noted that the port environment is naturally demanding and stressful due to the nature of operations and activities carried out daily within the harbour.

He explained that for this reason, workers need regular and frequent exercises such as the health walk to help them remain active, healthy and physically fit.

He further noted that the health walk also served as an awareness creation platform to promote occupational health, safety consciousness and general wellbeing within the port environment.

Participants were encouraged to make regular exercise part of their daily routine in order to maintain healthy and productive lives to continue to make the port of Tema the beacon of trade in the subregion.

The maiden health walk was widely applauded by participants, with many describing it as a timely initiative that fosters teamwork, unity and stronger relations among members of the port community.

Management of Tema Port expressed optimism that the exercise would become an annual event on the port’s calendar.
