New Technical Director and interim coach of Asante Kotoko Abdul-Karim Zito has assured the teeming fans of the club that the hope of returning to the top as a big club will begin on Sunday.
“We reminded [Kotoko’s players] that it is not over until it is done,” he said.
“Six matches with 18 points, we are in fourth place, and in these games we will play against those at the top, we can do something.
“The hope will begin on Sunday, so this game is more crucial to me than any other,” he stated at his unveiling on Wednesday, April 23.
Zito, hitherto to the Head Coach of Dreams FC, was appointed to replace Dr Prosper Narteh Ogum, who was sacked after the club’s 2-0 loss to Nations FC last Sunday.
Ogum had gone two games without a win, having lost 3-0 to struggling Accra Lions to drop from the summit of the Ghana Premier League.

On Sunday, the team will take on Aduana FC before a crucial tie against archrivals Hearts of Oak.
Zito says it is difficult to fight back to the top “but it is not impossible”.
He disclosed that this is the first time he has been tasked to win a league despite not being familiar with the players but he promised to do his best.
“I’m going to develop a philosophy for the club because they don’t have one,” he added.
“At Dreams, I did one, and so it can be utilized by any new coach at Kotoko.”
Zito has been handed a two-year contract.
He will be assisted by Prince Yaw Owusu, a former Medeama SC coach.
