Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the running mate to the flag bearer of the NPP, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has rejected the assertion that all political parties are the same.

He says the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) are two distinct parties which should be recognised by the public as such, without describing them as the same.

The Member of Parliament for Manhyia South says both political parties have their track record of achievements with the opportunity Ghanaians gave them, and that’s what they should be judged on.

The former Energy Minister wants Ghanaians to check the record of both parties to decide whom to vote for, instead of putting both parties in the same basket.

He continued that an NPP government has always provided peace for Ghanaians. Dr. Opoku Prempeh, who is also known as NAPO, speaking to the chiefs and clergy at Kenyasi in the Asutifi North district of the Ahafo region, bemoaned electoral violence which he said has claimed people’s lives.

He noted the region has a bad record when it comes to peace, something he advised the chiefs to ensure it is curtailed to purge Ahafo residents of the notoriety in being violent people.

“It is never true that all the parties are the same. In our assessment, what do the respective parties do for the citizens when they come to power? No one is saying any party can do everything but what you did with the time you were given. That’s what we are supposed to compare.

“And the first is peace. It is when elections are approaching that we see the best guns and cutlasses in Ghana. Some of the people are killed and others are butchered like beef. It is giving the people of Ahafo a bad name,” NAPO stated, advising the chiefs to stand up to redeem the image of Ahafo.

Meanwhile, at Hwediem in the Asutifi South district, NAPO courted the residents to reject John Mahama and the NDC saying they have nothing better to offer Ghanaians.
