Goasomanhene, Nana Akwasi Bosompra, is suspecting that the Electoral Commission has something to hide, the reason it is running from conducting a forensic audit into the voters’ register.
If the EC was clean about the roll, the paramount chief of the Goaso Traditional Area says it wouldn’t oppose the call for a third party intervention in scrutinising the register.
The NDC, after the exhibition of the voters’ register came out with its findings where some persons have been transferred from their polling centres without their notice.
Although the EC admits those errors were contained in the register, it says the issues have all been resolved.
Meanwhile, the NDC insists there are many of such errors per its findings, and has therefore called on the EC to engage a third party for a forensic audit. The party on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, organised a peace walk across all the 16 regions and presented a petition to the Commission to demand an audit of the roll.
The EC, has, however, said a meeting with the NDC will settle the matter. But according to the chief, an audit of the electoral roll by the EC itself will defeat logic.
Nana Bosompra, speaking at a gathering of the Ahafo Regional House of Chiefs when John Mahama paid a courtesy call on them at the commencement of his tour to the Ahafo region as part of his campaign said the voters’ register needs deliverance.
“So, we’ll plead with her to humble herself and lay bare the demands of the NDC. If after the audit nothing comes up, nobody will be arrested. She will even be praised.
“But I suspect there is some darkness there that is why. Because you can’t tell us to send a light to where there is no darkness.
“So, I stand here and speak as Goasomanhene and challenge the woman that there is something faulty with the register. The register needs deliverance, let’s look at it critically so that whoever wins the polls will win it credibly for all of us to have peace. This shouldn’t be an issue.
“So, if she is hearing my voice, she should humble herself and be like the virgin Mary who begot unto us our Jesus,” Nana Bosompra said in Twi.
