Former Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has reminded President John Dramani Mahama that many Ghanaian youth are still awaiting implementation of the 24-Hour Economy policy to create employment opportunities.

Bawumia notes that the past year was challenging for Ghanaians, particularly parents struggling to provide for their families.

In a January 1, 2026, Facebook post, NPP flagbearer hopeful, Dr. Bawumia acknowledged that although Ghana has made progress in macroeconomic stability, many citizens across the country still face economic hardship.

He believes the implementation of the 24-Hour Economy will go a long way to address the unemployment challenge facing many of the youth in the country.

“I know that for many Ghanaians, the past year has not been easy. Parents have worried about providing for their families and unemployed young people have wondered when the 24-hour economy will provide them the promised jobs,” Dr. Bawumia stated.

“Traders, workers, professionals and farmers have all felt the pressure in different ways, notwithstanding the improved macroeconomic stability,” he added.

He congratulated the President for his first year in office and wished him well on the execution of his mandate, admonishing him to keep up the faith of the people considering the trust entrusted to him by the citizenry.

“I congratulate John Dramani Mahama on his first year in office and I sincerely wish him well in the discharge of his mandate.”

“The Ghanaian people have bestowed a sacred trust on him and he cannot afford to fail them. I therefore urge him to continue to guard jealously, the peace, stability and unity of our nation,” he explained.
