Ghanaian musician Belinda Nana Ekua Amoah, popularly known by her stage name Mzbel, has expressed her deepest disappointment with the FDA ban on celebrity alcohol advertisements.
The Supreme Court has ruled to maintain the FDA’s guidelines, which were established in 2016, prohibiting well-known personalities from participating in alcohol advertisement campaigns.
Mzbel, who is deeply disturbed with the ban on celebrity alcohol advertisements reveals her disappointment over the ban during an interview with the Onua Showbiz host Nana Kwame Gyan.
According to the ‘16 years hitmaker’, if the FDA is putting the ban on celebrity advertisements because of the youth in the country, then there’s no need to do such.
She emphasized that there is bar, posters and signboards of these alcoholic beverages at every corner and junction so if a child is looking up to a celebrity as their role models and because of that the celebrity cannot promote alcoholic beverages, then it’s not right.
“The government is just finding a way to block our source of income, and this is the only way they can do that because most of the celebrities get deals from these companies”, she said.
