The Parliamentary Candidate (PC) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the Awutu Senya East Constituency of the Central Region, Phyllis Naa Koryoo Okunor has said that her arrest and detention by the Police signifies victory.

She made this statement on June 8 after being released from detention.

“This is the beginning of our victory. We will deliver the seat,” she said to an enthusiastic crowd of party faithful at the NDC’s headquarters in Accra.

Naa Koryoo expressed gratitude to the rank and file of the party for the massive support shown to her since the arrest.

“I am grateful to you all,” she said.

It would be recalled that Phyllis Naa Koryo Okunor, along with Mustapha Mohammed and Abdul Aziz Musah, were arrested last week.

The trio was apprehended while traveling in a Honda CRV saloon car with registration number GX-2044-19 near the Electoral Commission (EC) Office at  Ofaakor. They were found in possession of a firearm which was linked to a stabbing incident involving Ato Koomson, the son of the current MP and the Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture, Mavis Hawa Koomson.

He was reportedly stabbed near the EC Office at Ofaakor in the Central Region. The police recovered a pump-action gun with four rounds of ammunition from the vehicle, as detailed in their statement.
Naa Koryo however clarified that the said firearm is legally registered and that for the fear of her life, “I have every right to protect myself because the happenings at Kasoa necessitate that I do so.
