Day 3 of the Doteyie of late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, September 17,2025, brought thousands of mourners to Manhyia Palace, where rich cultural displays took centres stage.
The solemn atmosphere was interspersed with colourful cultural performances from traditional groups across Ghana and beyond.
Delegations from Togo and Benin entertained the mourners with spectacular displays of their deities, showcasing deep-rooted traditions that touched on the cultural diversity of the event.

One of the striking performances came from the people of Aflao,who captivated the mourners with a dramatic ritual that involved lighting fire on water contained in a vessel- a systematic act that drew applause and curiosity from the well-wishers and mourners.

Some of the mourners who witnessed the event described it as “a once-in-a-lifetime episode that speaks to the unity of African customs under the Asante Kingdom”.

“The funeral of the late Asantehemaa is not only a moment of mourning but also a time for showcasing the rich culture of Africa. What we are witnessing today is power of culture to connect,” one of them said.
The Doteyie, which continue till Thursday, September 18,2025, is expected to attract more traditional delegations from across Africa, showing the influence of Asante Kingdom and revered status of late Asantehemaa.

Dignitaries expected today, September 17,2025, include representatives from the National House of Chiefs, Regional House of Chiefs, Ministers of State, Diplomatic Corps, Parliamentarians, MMDCEs and the general public.
