The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially extended its congratulations to the Republican Party in the United States and its President-Elect, Donald Trump, following their success in the 2024 U.S. elections.

In a press statement issued by the party on November 6, the NPP commended Trump and Vice President-Elect J.D. Vance on their victory, describing it as a testament to the ideals of the Republican Party and the support it received from American voters.

According to the statement, the NPP views this election outcome as a significant endorsement of the Republican Party’s vision and values, which resonate closely with those of the NPP.

The Ghanaian political party highlighted its longstanding relationship with the Republicans, noting shared political ideals and symbolism, including the iconic elephant emblem both parties use.

The NPP also praised the United States for upholding democratic values through a peaceful election process, suggesting that Ghana can take lessons from this example as the country prepares for its own general elections on December 7, 2024.

The NPP expressed optimism that Ghana’s election will similarly reflect a commitment to democracy.

Expressing hope for continued cooperation, the NPP pointed to the global shift towards center-right ideologies, which it believes both the United States and Ghana have embraced.

The statement emphasized the importance of this political alignment, as both countries aim to implement “bold solutions” to benefit their citizens.

Justin Kodua Frimpong, General Secretary of the NPP, signed off the statement with best wishes for the Trump administration.

He expressed the party’s hope that a fruitful partnership will continue to grow between the United States and Ghana, particularly as Ghana’s own election season progresses.

“Indeed, the elephant is the winning symbol. It is possible,” the statement concluded, reaffirming the NPP’s aspirations for success in the December elections.
