The Trades Union Congress (TUC) has decided to join the FORUM, comprising nine labour unions, to withdraw their services on 2nd May, 2024 if government does not release the second-tier pension funds.

Secretary General of TUC, Dr Yaw Baah, said this when he was addressed a conference at Gomoa Fetteh in the Central Region.

“The forum has already given notice of strike on 2nd May, we will want to send this notice to government that by 30th of April, if they don’t do anything about the second- tier on the 2nd May, we will all join the strike, and I can’t imagine what will happen in this country if they allow this to happen”.

Already, the leadership of the nine labour unions, made up of Civil and Local Government Staff Association (CLOGSAG) Ghana Medical Association (GMA), Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) Judicial Service Staff Association, (JUSAG), Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) Coalition of Concerned Teachers (CCT), Ghana Association of Anesthetists, the Government and Hospital Pharmacist Association, (GHOSPA) have all served notice to begin a nationwide strike on May 2, 2024.
