Popular Ghanaian music video director, Awudu Musa, better known as Babs Direction, has urged local television networks to invest in Ghanaian content instead of constantly broadcasting foreign content.
His comments come after popular Nigerian actress and filmmaker Bimbo Ademoye criticised some Ghanaian TV stations of broadcasting her movies without authorizati on.
Reacting to the controversy in a Twitter post on April 23, 2025, Babs Direction questioned why local TV stations prioritize foreign content over local productions.
“Why are our local TV stations more focused on broadcasting foreign movies, often dubbed in our local languages, instead of investing in original Ghanaian content?” he asked.
In a further post, he called for collaboration between broadcasters and creatives to develop homegrown content that reflects Ghanaian culture and stories.
“Ghanaian TV stations should bring creatives together to discuss how to collaborate and create content for their platforms,” he added.
Babs Direction’s criticism comes amid growing concerns over purported copyright violations by Ghanaian TV stations airing Nigerian movies without due permission.
Babs has worked with top level artistes including Black Sherif, Sarkodie, Kofi Kinaata etc.
