Article 162 of the 1992 Constitution mandates the media in the discharge of its role as the fourth estate of the realm, to have continuous engagement with stakeholders unabated, to help diagnose issues hampering the progress of the state.

TV3, in light of the requirement, presents the October edition of it’s ‘Thought Leadership Series’ which comes off tomorrow, Thursday, October 12, 2023, at Media General’s Executive Theatre, Kanda.

The event, anchored on the theme: “Fighting Public Sector Corruption in Ghana – Making A Case for An Effective Assets Declaration Law” promises to be educative and exciting due to the High profile guests penciled to be hosted by the award-winning firebrand presenter, Alfred Nene Akrofi Ocansey, to be telecasted live on TV3 at 10:00am.

With guests like former Auditor General, Daniel Yaw Domelevo, Deputy Attorney General, Alfred Tuah Yeboah, Private Legal Practioner Martin Luther Kpebu and Joseph Whittal, the CHRAJ Commissioner, one cannot afford to miss the didactic dialogue which promises to be one of the best assembly of brains on a chosen topic in the country.

The focus of the programme is to prevent political corruption through assets declaration by public office holders.

For wielding the power of the purse, public office holders have the capacity to decide ‘who gets what, when and how’, making assets declaration a vital cog in the machinery of efforts to rein-in public sector corruption in the country.

Despite Article 286 of the 1992 Constitution, demanding “Ministers to submit to the Auditor General, a written declaration of all property or assets owned, or liabilities owned by him/her, directly or indirectly before taking office; at the end of every four years, and at the end of a Minister’s term of office”, governance analysts have decried the opacity of the current asset declaration regime.

It is in light of this that Media General has deemed it fit to invite key stakeholders in the nation’s effort towards curbing corruption to participate in the programme to help subdue the prevalence of the menace in the country.
