The newly enskined Chief of Tolla, in the Talensi District in the Upper East Region, Kobil-song Namal Dug’rib, has called on members of his community to unite for development following his recent appointment by the Nayiri, the overlord of the Mapurise kingdom.
In his speech, Chief Kobil-song Namal Dug’rib acknowledged the challenges faced by Tolla, stating that the community is significantly behind others in terms of basic infrastructure necessary for a better quality of life.
“I want to plead with my colleagues who also showed interest and contested to be Chief of Tolla,” he said. “Please, we are one people; it was just a competition, but I have been selected. Let’s put our differences aside and team up for development.”
The chief went on to appeal to the government for greater attention to traditional authorities, emphasizing their vital role in community mobilization and engagement.
He asserted that chiefs serve as neutral figures in society, free from partisan politics, and are best positioned to facilitate development initiatives.
