The Health Services Directorate of the University of Ghana is cautioning the University Community of a recent resurgence in COVID-19 cases, with a few suspected and confirmed cases reported in the University’s immediate vicinity.

The University’s Health Services Directorate in a notice issued on June 23 noted that “in light of the development, all staff, students, and visitors are strongly advised to remain vigilant and to strictly adhere to the following recommended preventive measures to reduce the risk of infection and spread:

  • Wear face masks properly, especially in enclosed or crowded spaces.
  • Wash hands frequently with soap under running water or use alcohol-based hand sanitizers.
  • Maintain physical distancing of at least one meter where possible.
  • Avoid large gatherings unless absolutely necessary.
  • Ensure good ventilation in offices, lecture halls, and meeting rooms.
  • Stay at home if you experience any flu-like symptoms and seek prompt medical attention.”

The Health Services Directorate has also reactivated its COVID-19 Response Protocols, including screening measures at health facilities while it monitors the situation closely for regular updates.
