Members of Parliament belonging to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) have expressed their readiness to dialogue with their New Patriotic Party (NPP) counterparts on the vacant seats controversy.
According to the NDC caucus, there has not been any meeting between them and the NPP or any other body in an attempt to resolve the recent impasse.
Chief Whip for the caucus, Governs Kwame Agbodza, in an exclusive interview with TV3’s Komla Klutse at Kpassa in the Nkwanta North constituency Tuesday, November 05, 2024, indicated that both caucuses have been embarking on their campaigns without any meetings.
He denied claims that the National Peace Council or the Council of State has met with them to try and resolve the ongoing issue.
During the interview, he stated that: “I’m the Majority Chief Whip I’m not aware that any such meeting took place either with our colleagues or with… the other day I was hearing that Peace Council or something… I’m not aware that any group has met us anything.
“We adjourned the House and we have been on the field working. Nothing has happened. There was no meeting between the caucuses, there was no meeting between NDC caucus in Parliament and Peace Council and Council of State or anybody for that matter,” he pointed.
“None whatsoever,” he reemphasised, indicating his caucus’ readiness to engage the NPP to bring the matter to rest. “Our doors are always opened. We work only as a group in Parliament on behalf of the people of this country.”
He added that Ghanaians are fed up with the current administration and poised to vote for change come December 07 for the NDC to take over the affairs of the state.
“The people of this country are fed up, tired, have been shortchanged by the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government. They want a change of government that will happen on the 7th of next month,” he stated.
