The Vice President, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has expressed appreciation to government appointees for the remarkable work they have done to advance the government’s reset agenda.
She has stated that the President’s vision of resetting and rebuilding the nation will not materialise without the sacrifices and contributions of these appointees, who have been entrusted with key roles to help attain the vision.
According to her, Ghana will move forward with determination and renewed energy in advancing the President’s vision for the nation, admonishing these appointees to keep this in mind.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, she expressed gratitude to the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, for the warm welcome he led the appointees in giving her during their meeting on Monday, May 26.
“Yesterday, I attended the general meeting of political appointees at the Presidency. Mr. Julius Debrah, the Chief of Staff, welcomed me on behalf of the team and said that they were happy to have me back in the office.
“I thanked them for their well wishes and also expressed my appreciation to them for the remarkable work they have continued to do in advancing the President’s vision of resetting and rebuilding our nation,” she noted.
Vice President Opoku-Agyemang returned to Ghana on Thursday, May 22, 2025, after spending several weeks in the United Kingdom receiving medical treatment.
She was welcomed at the Kotoka International Airport by President John Dramani Mahama, First Lady Lordina Mahama, Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, her office’s Chief of Staff Alex Segbefia, and other senior government officials.
Also present to receive her were the Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church, Very Reverend Professor Johnson Asamoah-Gyadu, as well as members of the Vice President’s family.
In a brief statement upon arrival, the Vice President expressed her gratitude to Ghanaians for their prayers and well wishes during her recovery. She also acknowledged the efforts of her medical team at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC), where she initially received treatment.
She reserved special appreciation for President Mahama and his brother, Ibrahim Mahama, for what she described as their unwavering support and care throughout her recovery period.
The Vice President fell ill on Friday, March 28, 2025, and received preliminary treatment at the UGMC before traveling to London for further medical attention.
During her encounter with government appointees on Monday, she urged them to execute their mandates with determination.
She encouraged them to press forward with renewed energy and determination. “I encourage us all to press forward with renewed energy and determination,” she stated.
