Despite earlier reports about the bad health condition of Vice President, Prof Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, President John Dramani Mahama has assured that the Vice President is recovering and very well.
The President provided the update about the health status of the Vice President during an official launch of the nationwide distribution of sanitary pads to over two million girls on Thursday, April 24, 2025.
President Mahama extended warm regards on behalf of the Vice President who was notably absent at the event.
“I wish to extend the greetings of Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang to all of you. I spoke to her yesterday and I told her we were going to miss her at this event because this is a programme that is very dear to her.
“She said I should say hello to all of you and to say she is recuperating and catching a bit of rest. She is very well and soon she will join us to continue to prosecute the reset agenda.”
Prof Opoku-Agyemang undergone medical treatment at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) after experiencing a sudden illness on Friday, March 28, 2025.
A statement issued by the Presidency Communications on Sunday, March 30, 2025, confirmed that the Vice President received care at UGMC and was in stable condition.
The statement, signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu (MP), Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications, further indicated that based on expert medical advice, the Vice President will seek additional treatment abroad.
