At Jaway Wharf, a community in the Jomoro constituency of the Western region, John Dramani Mahama, the flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has been presented with a piece of block as a sign of vindication.

The block, which represents a stone in the context of the gesture, is to express a message of vindication to the former President over the caution he gave Ghanaians about the economic ramifications of ditching him and the NDC for President Akufo-Addo.

John Mahama, after being tagged ‘incompetent’ by the then opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), warned of a plummeting economy should Ghanaians choose then candidate Akufo-Addo over him.

After suffering a heavy defeat in the 2016 polls and another which was settled in the Supreme Court in 2020, Ghanaians are complaining that things were better under Mahama compared to the current regime.

To accept regret for voting out the NDC and John Mahama’s caution coming to play, the young man who was in NDC colours presented the former President with the ‘stone’ before he addressed the gathering at the town Hall meeting as part of his ‘Building Ghana Together’ tour.

Among the Akans, the expressions “bɛgye wo boɔ or wo boɔ nie” to wit come for your stone or here is your stone are used for persons who are vindicated at the end of a cause that had been in contention prior to ascertaining the real facts or the other side of it.

Watch the young man giving John Mahama ‘his stone’ before he addressed the people at Jomoro.

This is the second time this has happened publicly after broadcaster Blessed Godsbrain Smart presented him one in absentia at Onua TV studios when the Bank of Ghana’s GHC60.8 billion loss became topical.
