The National Communications Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, has detailed what the NDC alleges is the actual plot by the NPP to rig the December elections.
The party, at a press conference addressed by Sammy Gyamfi Tuesday, November 19, 2024, named the General Officer Commanding of the Central Command of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), Brigadier-General Michael Opoku, as the person being used by the government to carry out its rigging machinery.
Appearing on Onua TV’s morning show, Maakye, Wednesday, November 20, 2024, Sammy Gyamfi alleged that the military officer has sent his family abroad and planning on unleashing mayhem in the Ashanti region to rig the elections on December.
He says their “game plan” is to provide military uniforms to foot soldiers of the NPP and arm them to create disturbances like it occurred in Techiman South in the 2020 elections.
Reiterating what he said at the presser on the show, he said “violence cannot and will not win the NPP this year’s election,” he stated, adding that it is the will of the people that will prevail.
The party has served notice of petitioning various foreign missions, Ghana’s development partners, His Royal Majesty, Otumfour Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene and others on the development, including the two top security capos.
