The Asogli State is positioning the Volta Region as a prime destination for investment and industrial transformation, its overlord, Togbe Afede XIV, has asserted.
According to the Agbogbomefia of the State, the region is endowed with enormous natural and human resources that can drive wealth creation for the people.
He said this on Thursday, September 23, 2026, at the Volta Economic Forum held as part of the 2026 Asogli Te Za in Ho on the theme “Transforming potentials into wealth for the Volta Region.”
He stressed on the avalanche of resources in the region, “including lithium discovered in January 2018, iron ore, fertile agricultural lands, forests, waterfalls, bird species and a vibrant population.”
Togbe noted that “key opportunities existed in the proposed Keta Harbour, railway development, the Eastern Corridor road, and large-scale agriculture that would have advanced development for the people.”
He outlined specific projects being considered under current efforts, including medical tourism, a Charter City, a Green City and an Aeropolis.
The objectives of the Volta Economic Forum, according to him, were centred on development, which meant attracting businesses that provide social amenities, jobs and improved living standards.
Despite the region’s vast potential, the Asogli State leader observed that poverty remained pervasive and happiness, which should be the ultimate measure of development, was still elusive for many.
Among the current interventions to reposition the region, he listed the Volta Economic Forum, the Volta Development Plan led by Vincent Azorli, the 20-year Transformation Plan for the Volta Region under Mr. Ahiafor, and the Volta Regional House of Chiefs.
Te Za’s own development orientation, he noted, was evident in initiatives such as Youth Entrepreneurship Day, Widows Day and the reorganisation of the Asogli State to mobilise resources and ensure completion of ongoing projects.
