Franklin Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has expressed his party’s preparedness to prosecute corrupt officials of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) to serve as a deterrent to others.

The NDC Secretary says the first thing that is needed to ensure the current administration is held accountable would be to vote out the government in the upcoming December polls.

He holds that the government officials should be punished for dissipating state funds amongst themselves.

During an interaction with journalists in Accra Tuesday, June 18, 2024, during the “Hands off our Hotels” demonstration, Mr. Kwetey noted that the insensitivity the government has exhibited is unprecedented.

He urged all Ghanaians to exercise their franchise on December 07 to change the government in power in order to put things in their right perspective.

“And a group of this nature, the best way to deal with them is to first and foremost get them out of power. The people of Ghana must rally together to make sure that these people are prosecuted so that an example is set once and for all for generations to come.

“That you simply cannot become leaders of a country and become such a group of insensitive, corrupt and uncaring people. So that is what it has to be. December 7 must be a day for the people of Ghana to speak,” he noted.

North Tongu Member of Parliament, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, yesterday, June 18, led a group of Ghanaians to demonstrate against the sale  of some hotels belonging to SSNIT to the Minister of Agriculture, Bryan Acheampong.

According to him, the transaction sparks conflict of interest aside from the fact that the Minister, who is a Member of Parliament representing Abetifi, has not sought permission to indulge in profitable ventures as Parliament’s regulations requires.
