The Volta North Regional Police Command has arrested three (3) immediate past students of the Hohoe E. P Senior High School sighted in a viral video for destroying school properties after completion.
This is contained in a Facebook post by the Ghana Police Service on June 23.
“On Friday, 19th June, 2026, the school authorities filed complaint to the police that, about five (5) of the immediate past students recorded in a video unlawfully damaged their school water pipeline after writing their last exam and departed to their various homes,” the Police statement signed by Inspector Felix Kwao, Public Relations Officer of Volta North Region indicated.
“The Regional Police Command deployed intelligence surveillance on suspects and apprehended three of them. Suspects include; Rashid Suraj Dakpo Age 19; Alhassan Mohammed Age 20 and Abdul Kadri Abdulai Age 20. Suspects have been handed over to the Regional Investigations Department to assist investigations and processed to face criminal trial,” the Police said.
The Volta North Regional Police Command said this behavior is becoming increasingly common and warned that any student caught engaging in these acts will face the full rigours of the law.
Meanwhile, efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining suspects.
“The command also urges parents, guardians and teachers to continue to admonish their wards on the consequences of such acts.
It is recalled that on June 18, the Ghana Police Service cautioned final-year students preparing to complete the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) to celebrate responsibly and refrain from engaging in acts that could lead to criminal prosecution.
In a statement issued ahead of the end of the examinations on Friday, June 19, the Police urged candidates across the country to remain disciplined and law-abiding as they mark the completion of their secondary education.
The Service warned that acts of violence, vandalism, arson, assault, and other unlawful conduct often associated with post-examination celebrations carry serious legal consequences that could negatively affect students’ futures and academic aspirations.
“The Police will not hesitate to arrest and prosecute any student found engaging in such conduct,” the statement stressed.
The warning follows two recent incidents of student unrest in the Upper East Region that resulted in the arrest of six students.
At Zebilla Senior High Technical School, two students were arrested in connection with the alleged arson of a teacher’s apartment.
In a separate incident at Bawku Senior High School, four students were arrested for rioting, assaulting school staff, and destroying school and private property.
The Police Service called on students, parents, guardians, and school authorities to work together to promote discipline, respect, and peaceful celebrations at the end of the examination period.
