National Organiser of the governing New Patriotic Party, Henry Nana Boakye, has alleged that some persons have been transporting ammunition across the country with ambulances.

He says these are persons who want to foment trouble in the upcoming elections, but has promised them that nothing of that sort will happen.

Nana Boakye says every intelligence gathered on the matter has been reported to the police and expects such persons to be brought to book to ensure the elections are carried out peacefully.

The NPP’s National Organiser, who was reacting to claims by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), that the ruling party is engineering mechanisms to create confusion and rig the polls in December, indicated that, his outfit has taken note of the transportation of ammunition and an ongoing training of private security in some parts of the country, meant to destabilise the peace of the country.

He rubbished the claims by the opposition, assuring the populace that “this election is going to be conducted freely, it will be fair and transparent. Nobody will be harmed.”

He disclosed that “we are keenly monitoring those conveying weapons in ambulances. We are also watching the private security persons who are being trained. We have intelligence and reported it.

“Fortunately we report everything we see to the police. These are not the government ambulances but private ones. And there are some vehicles which have been made like ambulances but are used to transport ammunition,” he said on Onua FM’s Asem Ben Ni with Captain Smart Wednesday, November 20, 2024.
