Nana Kwame Kyeretwie, Asanteman Nkɔsoɔhene (Progress Chief), has advised the flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, to stay true to his words should Ghanaians grant him the opportunity to become President.

The chief has asked the Vice President not to behave like the usual politician who says one thing and does another.

According to him, they have taken records of his promises and would put him in check should he get the opportunity to lead the nation.

Nana Kyeretwie was speaking at Manhyia Wednesday, June 12, 2024, during the Vice President’s courtesy call to the Asantehene as part of his three-day campaign tour to the Ashanti region.

“Politicians make promises and when they get the votes, they do otherwise, we have documented all your promises on tape, we have cameramen here who have done that, we will ensure that you fulfill all the promises if you win the elections,” Nana Kyeretwie stated.

Meanwhile, the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, also advised the Vice President to stay humble as he has known him always.

In a statement made by the Asantehene which was echoed by his linguist, he expressed how “Ghana needs progress, unity and growth”, adding that “the Akufo-Addo-led government has done its part and it is time for others to also continue.”

“What Nana Addo saw in you to make you his Vice is what has brought you here today. He had faith in you that if he nurtures you, you’ll be able to continue his works. You should let Ghana know that if power is given to you, you will be able to lead well,” the Asantehene continued.

Talking about his personality traits, the overlord of the Asante Kingdom said “political power has not changed you. You are still the humble Bawumia I have known always.”

He admonished the flag bearer of the NPP to maintain his humility, expressing faith that if power is handed over to him, he will be able to do well.

“Do not change. Maintain your humility and respectfulness always. If you are able to convince Ghanaians to vote for you, I am certain you will you be able to govern this nation to progress,” Otumfuo urged.

The Vice President began his tour in the Ashanti Region Monday, June 10, 2024, and will end it today, Wednesday, June 12. He earlier met with the artisans at Magazine in Suame and a health walk earlier on Monday.
