The negative implications that will come out of the resignation of the Majority Leader in Parliament will be resolved by the caucus, First Deputy Speaker, Joseph Osei-Owusu, has noted.

The Bekwai MP says the Majority will strategise and plan a way forward to prevent any divisions that may stem from Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu’s resignation.

He told journalists in Parliament Thursday, February 22, 2024, that the resignation came to him as a surprise “but as to what got to him, I’m sure we better left to him to explain.”

“I’m sure moving forward the caucus will discuss all the ramifications of the effect of our leader resigning, the process of electing a new one, we’ll discuss all that and if there are any implications that will have negative impact on our caucus, we may plan a route that would keep us together,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the lawmaker who is also known as Joe Wise expressed disappointment over the development.

Extolling the works of Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, the MP said he served diligently and would have wished he stayed on as leader of the caucus till the end of the 8th Parliament.

“I’m personally disappointed that Kyei decided to step down. He has been a fantastic leader, extremely hardworking and I would have wished that he stayed on till the end,” he disclosed.
