The Nkusukum Traditional Council has debunked assertions that they have enstooled a gay rights activist, Davis Mac Lyalla as Amankorahen/Nkɔsohen (Development Chief) as being speculated.

According to the paramount chief of the Nkusukum Traditiojnal Area, Okese Essandoh IX, the earlier intended process to confer a development chief title on Mr Lyalla as Nana Kweku Adu was halted as soon as he and his elders got information that he is an LGBTQI+ and its related activities advocate.

Addressing the media at Yamoransa to clarify the controversy surrounding the said event where Mr. Lyalla fell from the palanquin he was riding in for his coronation, Nana Essandoh revealed he got to know Mr Lyalla through some friends in Cape Coast as a philanthropist who could help bring development to Yamoransa.

For that matter, the elders decided to honour him as Amankrado to assist Yamoransa by bringing African Americans to the area.

He said the Nkusukum Tradition Council do not condone activities of the LGTBQ+ and its activities and will not even entertain it in area.

He said the necessary rites and traditions to swear an oath to confer the earlier title on Davis Lyalla did not take place adding a development chief or Nkɔsohen was a title that did not require one to belong to a family lineage or clan to qualify for it.

He indicated the customs and traditions of Akans even frowns on activities of LGBTQ+, noting it was out of good will and quest for development for the people in the community that Mac Lyalla’s name came to link the community with investors from the diaspora.

The traditional council pleaded with the media not take the issue out of proportion
