The newly elected Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for New Juaben South, Ransford Owusu Boakye, has pledged pragmatic and transformative infrastructural development for the Assembly.
Addressing Assembly Members following his unanimous endorsement, he emphasized the need for collective effort to accelerate progress in Koforidua, the Eastern Regional capital.
“This victory belongs to the entire municipality. We shall work assiduously to improve the standard of living, expand infrastructure, and create job opportunities for our youth,” he stated.
He also assured the Assembly of his commitment to providing purposeful and pragmatic leadership. “I can assure you that I will do everything within my power to elevate this municipality to an enviable height. My leadership will be sound, focused, and responsive to your expectations,” he assured.
Mr Boakye further pledged a non-partisan approach to governance, expressing readiness to work closely with the Member of Parliament for the area, Michael Okyere Baafi, to advance the municipality’s development agenda.
Prior to his appointment, Ransford Owusu Boakye served as the Eastern Regional Director of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) and also as the Eastern Regional Vice Chairman of the governing NDC.
Residents of New Juaben South are hopeful for improvements in road infrastructure, implementation of sustainable drainage systems, and the long-awaited expansion of the Koforidua Market.
The New Juaben Traditional Council has urged the MCE to prioritize decongestion and address the challenge posed by tricycles in the municipality.
All 48 Assembly Members present voted unanimously in favor of Ransford Owusu Boakye’s nomination, after which the Electoral Commission officially declared him.
A High Court judge swore him in, administering the oaths of secrecy and allegiance.
The Eastern Regional Minister Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, lauded the endorsement, describing it as a strategic move to ensure leadership continuity and sustained development.
“I strongly believe this endorsement is a step forward ensuring effective leadership in achieving the hopes and aspirations of the good people of this municipality,” she said.
