The Upper East Regional Minister, Stephen Yakubu, has reiterated his comments on the need for Ghanaians to take a swipe at the 24-hour economy policy announced by former president John Dramani Mahama.

The minister made this known during the sod cutting ceremony of the 1.2km road being constructed from Akuntatingane junction off the Bolgatanga Bongo road.

Mr. Yakubu who made some initial comments on the 24-hour economy during a festival at Sakoti in the Nabdam district and sparked public reactions, repeated same with emphasis and condemnation during the sod cutting ceremony.

“As I said not to go and farm in the night and leave your wife that you have paid so much money to marry. To marry in the North, you have to pay about four cows depending on how beautiful the woman is and you have to bring more guinea fowls in addition.

“And I will marry this nice woman in my house then in the night that I can talk to her in a romantic manner to prolong our marriage as it is done in the olden days and you say I should leave all that and go and farm in the night, have you heard this before?” the minister indicated.

“We have always been sleeping with our wives in the night not during the day. During the day, our children are going to school and what about if your child forgets something or his books in the house and he comes back and you are there on the mother, he will say, father you are killing my mother for me. So these things are serious matters that we need to think about,” he concluded.

The Upper East Regional minister made the above comments in defense of the NPP’s developmental agenda which gets projects executed within a time frame against John Mahama’s 24-hour economy policy he is proposing.

The Bolgatanga Municipal Chief Executive Officer, Rex Asanga after outlining the project scope of the road project, advised and cautioned the contractor to ensure value for money in executing it.

The road will pass through the Bolgatanga ECOMOG Junction through the Bolga SOE Doctors Bungalow with Bitumen sealing of 0.6m U-drains and the provision of 40No. metal street poles and 40No. LED street lamps to provide security in the Bolgatanga municipality.
