The Ghana Police Service is investigating a shooting incident involving a female police officer that occurred on January 19, 2026 around the Tetegu area near Weija.
A statement issued by the police said preliminary investigations indicate that the female officer allegedly shot a taxi driver following a confrontation.
The driver, who was operating a Hyundai i10 taxi cab was rushed to the Police Hospital for treatment but he was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.
Investigation further indicated that the police woman was hit by a vehicle and sustained injuries to her head and both legs as she attempted leaving the scene.
She is currently on admission receiving medical attention.
Investigators recovered exhibits such as one live 9mm round, a magazine, and one empty 9mm cartridge from the incident scene.
Investigations continue and further development will be communicated, the police noted.
