President Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has reemphasised his government’s resolve to ensuring the reign of the Rule of Law as the December 2024 elections beckons.
The President says his outfit will not tolerate any action from any flag bearer or its political party that will demean the democratic tenets that has set the country apart as a beacon of the system of government.
According to him, the laws would strictly deal with persons who would go contrary to the dictates of the law, to ensure the December exercise stays peaceful.
Speaking at the commissioning of the Law House which will host the Ministry of Justice and Attorney-General’s Department in Accra Monday, June 10, 2024, he stated that his government will ensure that justice is administered equitably for all Ghanaians.
“I want to use the opportunity of this platform to reassure the Ghanaian people that the law enforcement agencies of the state including the Office of the Attorney-General will do all within their power to ensure that law and order prevail in our country all the time especially during this critical elections year.
“We will not allow the peace, security and stability of the nation which has made the nation a beacon of democracy on the African continent to be compromised on the alter of the ambition of any political party or presidential candidate. It will not happen.
“The laws and our statutes including those on vigilantism will be strictly and vigorously in force to preserve the peace and tranquility of the country. We know that the good people of Ghana will demonstrated consistently and openly their deep attachment to peaceful democratic values,” he stated.
