The Minister of Energy and Green Transition, Dr John Jinapor has led all agencies under the Ministry in a frank and constructive engagement with the Ministry of Finance, led by Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, on the state of Ghana’s energy sector.
During the engagement in Accra on Thursday, September 2, they had an open discussion on the challenges confronting the sector, particularly the critical relationship between energy and public finance.
Through the reforms being implemented by the government, he said “We are making meaningful progress in addressing the structural challenges in the energy sector.”
He assured that the government remains committed to sustaining these reforms, strengthening the sector’s financial sustainability and ensuring that Ghana has a reliable and resilient energy system to support economic growth.
Earlier, Dr Jinapor also joined the Board, Management and staff of BOST energies Limited Company at the 2026 Annual General Meeting.
He commended the Company for its strong 2025 performance, with revenue increasing by 195% to GH¢3.81 billion and profit after tax rising by 72% to GH¢684 million.
The 5% dividend to the Government of Ghana is a welcome milestone, the first of its kind in the Company’s history and a clear demonstration that our State Owned Enterprises can create value for the Ghanaian people.
He charged BOST energies to build on this foundation by strengthening strategic petroleum stocks, modernising critical infrastructure, improving efficiency and expanding its commercial reach.
“As Ghana advances its economic transformation agenda and the 24 Hour Economy, BOST energies must remain central to our energy security and national development,” he said.
