Leader of the Movement for Change (M4C) and Independent Candidate in the 2024 general elections, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, has said his administration will work with the labour unions to address the pressing issues facing workers if elected president.
He, therefore, called on Ghanaians to vote for a new leadership that “transcends partisan lines and prioritises the building of a prosperous, united and peaceful Ghana.”
In a statement dated Wednesday, May 1, on the occasion of the 2024 International Workers’ Day celebration, Mr. Kyerematen emphasised the importance of developing policies that protect the interests of workers and their well-being, as well as a conducive working environment.

“We will champion their rights and well-being, and build an environment where every worker is respected, protected, and empowered to fulfill their potential.
“Together, we will work to inspire a new mindset and attitudinal change in Ghana, that will reflect a renewed spirit of patriotism. As provided for in the Constitution of Ghana, we will act with courage, commitment, and conviction to protect and preserve public property, and expose and combat misuse and waste of public funds and property,” excerpts of the statement read.
Furthermore, the former Trades Minister acknowledged the challenges facing workers, including low wages, unsafe working conditions and inadequate social protection for workers, stressing that “these challenges have been exacerbated by the unprecedented decline in our economy in recent years.”

“As we approach the scheduled date for the General Elections in December this year, I call upon all Ghanaians to vote for a new leadership that will usher in a truly representative Government of National unity—one that transcends partisan lines and prioritises the building of a prosperous, united, and peaceful Ghana, where every citizen, including our dedicated workers, can thrive and prosper in freedom,” the statement added.
