Mr Wilbert Petty Brentum, Regional Minister for Western North, has appealed to traders and service providers in the region to reduce prices in light of the country’s economic progress.
Citing a decline in fuel prices, reduction in farming input costs, steady drop in inflation rate, decrease in the Bank of Ghana’s prime rate, and the strengthening of the Ghanaian cedi, the Minister urged businesses to reflect these gains in their pricing.
While acknowledging the need for businesses to make a profit, Mr Brentum cautioned against excessive profit margins at the expense of consumers.
“Let us reflect these economic gains in our pricing and support government’s efforts to ease the burden on our citizens and improve the standard of living for all,” he said.
The Minister’s appeal is part of the government’s efforts to improve the welfare of citizens and stimulate economic growth.
